Hot on the heels of last week’s TLC announcement that Kat Von D’s “LA Ink” would be cancelled, comes more inked reality news that SpikeTV will launch “InkMaster”, the first-ever competition in search of the country’s preeminent tattoo artist.
The reality show, which will premiere in January of next year, will feature the nation’s top tattoo artists as they battle it out weekly in various tattoo challenges that will test the artists’ technical skills and on-the-spot creativity.
Dave Navarro, guitarist of rock band Jane’s Addiction, will serve as the host, while Chris Nunez (“Miami Ink”) and Oliver Peck (Elm Street Tattoo) join Navarro on the judge’s panel.
“InkMaster” artists will use “human canvases” to display their work, leaving any permanent mistakes that they may make. The risks are high and the winner will receive a $100,000 cash prize and feature in Inked magazine.
