This week an Oscar-themed mural was spotted in Los Angeles featuring a Banksy-like Oscar statuette and an army of Storm Troopers.  Rumors swirl that this may be Banksy’s way of campaigning for the Oscar win since he is the credited Director of the documentary, Exit Through the Gift Shop, which has been nominated for the Best Documentary Oscar at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards.

According to sources, it’s debatable as to whether the mural was even created by  Banksy. Consensus is that the art may belong to Mr. Brainwash a.k.a. Thierry Guetta, who has been using Starship Troopers in recent works.

What do you think?  Banksy or Brainwash? Is Mr. Brainwash really just Banksy?  And will Banksy reveal his identity should he win the Oscar?

So many questions…
