2011 CFDA Award Nominee: Alexander WangThe famous photography duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin recently jumped on the Tumblr and Twitter bandwagon, giving hints about being commissioned to photograph portraits for the Council of Fashion Designers of America, otherwise known as the CFDA.

The photographers recently took to their Tumblr page and unveiled their series of black and white photos taken for the CFDA journal in honor of their Annual Fashion Awards.

The pictures feature a rich selection of designers and notable fashion icons like Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, the lovely Lady Gaga, and other 2011 CFDA award nominees.

According to WWD, Inez was determined to have all of his subjects strip all of their clothes, as he wanted to capture something more than just their outer layers. One might think that Lady Gaga would have been the first onboard, but amusingly, the only one who agreed to be photographed naked was Marc Jacobs! Trey Laird, the creative director of the annual CFDA awards, commented that Jacobs was all too willing to take off his clothes

Naked or not, the series of compelling photos makes every single one of the 2011 CFDA nominees look flawless.

Alexander Wang’s skin looks disturbingly perfect, Lady Gaga has some serious muscle, and Marc Jacobs reveals a side of sexy shirtless.

What is it about black and white that heals physical imperfections?

The portraits will be handed out to those lucky ones attending the award ceremony on Monday, June 6th at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. If you’re attending, then you can look forward to taking home a few pictures which will forever represent American fashion in the year 2011.
