Balmain’s F/W 2011 Collection Sans Christophe Decarnin

Fashion / March 4, 2011

Despite Christophe Decarnin’s noticeable absence from the Balmain show in Paris, the show went on…and went on it did.

Balmain presented a collection full of mini-sweater dresses in textured metallics, side-split tops, below the knee cuffed pants,  zig-zagged printed form-fitting jumpsuits and jackets full of texture, shine and sparkle- which there was no shortage of.

According to a spokeperson for Balmain, “the collection was done under (Decarnin’s) directives, but in the last weeks, he hasn’t been involved 100 percent – or as much as he would like . . . He has been exhausted because this season was particularly demanding and complicated.”

The season’s collection was produced by the house design team, who will continue to carry out the work until Decarnin is recovered.

What do you think?  Is the collection noticeably missing Decarnin’s point of view?
