Italian fashion brand Marni, who is known for its quirky, bold, graphic patterns, will design a playful line called Marni Children.
According to WWD, Marni and Spazio Sei Fashion Group, who already produces children’s lines, have struck up a licensing agreement deal to produce and sell the line internationally.
Marni creative director, Consuelo Castiglioni will create the fun and colorful collection of apparel and accessories made for young girls ages 2-12.
Marni has dabbled in children’s wear before—their earlier Fall 2011 collection drew inspiration from key motifs from the adult line, such as exclusive Marni prints that included hearts, florals, polka dots, contrasting stripes, and signature doll print. Of course, these ideas will be reworked to capture the essence of a young girl.
The new line will featured a variety of hooded parkas, polka dot rain capes and jersey T-shirts and dresses made in cotton, silk crepe and washed taffeta.
Marni Children will be sold in Marni stores, select boutiques, department stores and on marni.com starting June 2012.
