Christian Louboutin’s Red Sole Crackdown: Lawsuit Number Two

Fashion / News / April 12, 2011

Christian Louboutin is on the hunt for red soles in another lawsuit filed against São Paulo shoe brand Carmen Steffens of Brazil.

The lawsuit, which is the second one filed by Louboutin in a week, accuses Carmen Steffens of infringement on brand’s red trademarked soles.

In response the the lawsuit, Carmen Steffens of Brazil issued a statement, citing:

“The tones are not the same, and, as catalogs dating from 1996 can prove, Carmen Steffens shoes contain soles of all colors, including red.”

With a lawsuit against Yves Saint Laurent and now Carmen Steffens of Brazil, will all red-soled shoes, no matter what tone, be sued by Christian Louboutin?

And if these infringement lawsuits are successful, how will this impact the fashion industry as a whole?

Only time will tell.
