Yves Saint Laurent has just tapped Emily Blunt to be the face of their newest ad campaign.

The feisty Brit is the latest celebrity ambassador for YSL’s signature fragrance “Opium Eau de Parfum.”

“I am very honoured to have been chosen to be the face of Opium,” she told British newspaper The Telegraph.

“It is really exciting to embody a fragrance which has stood the test of time without its allure ever being diminished.”

Released in 1977 by perfumer Jean-Louis Sieuzac and outfitted by famed bottle designer Pierre Dinand, Yves Saint Laurent’s signature scent continues to embody all things wild, sexy, free.

Renaude de Lesquin, president of YSL & Designer Brands says the campaign, “embraces the whole history and values of our house”, and it will “unveil a fiery, almost reckless woman with magnetic seduction, that nobody or nothing can resist.”

Banned YSL Opium Ad Featuring Melanie Thierry

This recklessness has come under fire by many organizations in response to the brands history in provocative advertising.  For example, one ad featuring French actress Melanie Thierry running her finger down her arm imitating the injection of opiates was banned earlier this year.

We’re pretty certain that Blunt, who YSL believes personifies their fantasy woman, will not be simulating drug use.

Either way, we’re confident her campaign will not disappoint.
