Fashion Reality: Alexa Chung to Host Lifetime’s “24-Hour Catwalk” Competition Show

Former model turned TV personality and Britain’s resident style princess, Alexa Chung, just got her hands on a project for Lifetime entitled 24-Hour Catwalk.

Reminiscent of Heidi Klum’s Project Runway, 24-Hour Catwalk is a design competition for U.S. based designers looking for their big break.

Fresh from a split with Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner, this could be the perfect project to keep Chung distracted.

After attempts with her two prior television shows, Thrift America and It’s on with Alexa Chung, and her collection
with specialty brand Madewell, Chung has more than enough experience and knowledge of the industry to represent 24-Hour Catwalk well.

Robert Sharenow, executive vice president of programming at Lifetime, told the UK magazine Telegraph, “The thing that is happening now in fashion culture is that every character and subset of skill is being explored, and there is going to be great shows coming out of that.”

Yet it seems these “great shows” have already been developed.

Do we really need yet ANOTHER Project Runway carbon copy?

Hopefully, Lifetime and Chung will be able to produce a fresh take on fashion reality television.
