The sporty chic theme had an authoritative influence on both Alexander Wang and Altuzzarra‘s  Spring 2012 collections at New York Fashion Week.

Altuzzarra merged feminine sensibilities with edgy street wear, and sent forth sporty silhouettes and mesh knits layered in vibrant colors. Models donned aerodynamic and form-fitting pieces in complex technical fabrics paired with a stunning multihued of head to toe prints in only the brightest of hues for spring.

Alexander Wang’s collection was about uncomplicated and easy to wear attire with a relaxed yet refined fit that easily translates from casual and active.

Energetic colors and spirited prints rocked the runway in performance fabrics like neoprene, accents of neon, and zipper detailing.

Wang did not keep his muse for this collection discreet, with models that walked with purpose in white motocross pants and linear tops paired with matching BMX helmets, it was clear that the tomboys will emerge this spring.

Staying akin to the cutting-edge casual repertoire he is known for, Wang’s collection consisted of perforated leather tops, hooded couture-meets-utility jackets and coats, and asymmetrical silhouettes that easily transform from day to night.
