Fashion Rocks: Eddie Van Halen's Style Revisited

Do you believe it? You know, the rumor that next Wednesday, ’80s rock band Van Halen will announce their reunion and upcoming performance at the Grammy Awards in February.

On second thought, there have been other Van Halen-related happenings lately: last week, the Glee kids covered their naughty “Hot for Teacher,” and the band just signed with Interscope Records.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers blasted onto the scene with energetic anthems like “Jump,” power ballads like “Love Walks In” and a slew of MTV-friendly videos. Amidst all the dysfunctional drama including personal and artistic bickering and a revolving door of band members (Sammy Hagar, anyone?), the main pillar of the hard rock/glam metal foursome has always been co-founder and renowned lead guitarist Eddie Van Halen.

His iconic ’80s style featured long, feathered hair; tight jeans; loud colors like acid yellow and bright pink; and, most of all, stripes–chevron-striped jackets, tiger-striped pants, horizontally-striped tees. And his best “accessory” was of course his famous “Frankenstein” guitar with its signature black-and-white-striped design.

You can rock the EVH look by wearing this Diane von Furstenberg Elley coated-raffia mini skirt, a Vivienne Westwood Hylas Tee, and a pair of Burberry Prorsum Beaded leather sandals.
