Elsa Schiaparelli, Shoe Hat, (collaboration with Salvador Dalí), winter 1937-38.

All fabulous things must come to an end, and while we wish Alexander McQueen’s Savage Beauty exhibit could stay at the Met forever, sadly, the exhibit departed earlier this month.

But as much as we hate saying goodbye to McQueen, we’re excited to say hello to the next two exhibits scheduled to hit the Metropolitan Museum of Art: Miuccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli.

In 2012, Prada, with her timeless, dignified pieces and the late Schiaparelli, with her artistic and unconventional designs–such as a high heeled hat and skirt suit—will be the next exhibits to open at the Costume Institute.

The exhibits are scheduled to open next spring, and promises to be filled with gasp worthy pieces.

Both designers have extensive collections to exhibit, so it will be interesting to see what will be chosen to display.
