The event acknowledges those who have had a profound impact on American fashion, whether it be veterans in fashion, or those who are brand new to the field.
CFDA executive director Steven Kolb told press, “There is no other event that puts the spotlight on American fashion like The CFDA Fashion Awards. Winning a CFDA Fashion Award is the highest and one of the most coveted honors one can receive in our industry.”
The awards were given for an array of categories including accomplishments in womenswear, menswear, accessories, and creative vision.
Lady Gaga, who donned a bright green wig, received her award for the category of fashion icon. Master designer Marc Jacobs received a lifetime achievement award, which was rather controversial given his young age.
