In a time where musicians who choose to wander away from the mainstream are gaining more attention than ever before, Nashville natives The Civil Wars are making sure their folksy, country inspired melodies are not going unheard.
The duo comprised of Joy Williams and John Paul White have been barreling full speed ahead since their conception in 2009. With the release of their first LP “Barton Hollow”, and the success of singles like “Poison and Wine” and “Barton Hollow”, The Civil Wars joined soulful songstress Adele on tour.
The Civil Wars recently have been nominated for two American Music Awards and their growing list of accomplishments in such a short amount of time is nothing short of impressive.
The mixture of simplicity and complexity in their music is sheer brilliance. Singing songs about love and life in clear, beautiful harmony, The Civil Wars have managed to make music that is truly original.
Even covers of songs like Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” are refreshingly inspired.
Following their recent success, the band has announced a North American tour beginning in early August in Colorado and ending in Arizona in late November.
Adele recently commented on the twosome on her blog saying, “They are by far the BEST live band I have EVER seen. They are magical and stunning, they make my heart hurt but make it a bit stronger at the same time too! Perfect timing! Please check them out, their record is beautiful. And if [you’re] coming to any of the shows on this trip make sure you get there early to see them. [I’ve] never been so blown away.”
How can you ignore that?
