MUSIC: Mixed Tape for the Naughty Sexters

Music / June 27, 2011

Thanks to all the technological advances of the 21st century, being naughty is easier than ever.  With new cell phones, cameras and social networking sites like Twitter, it’s simple to flaunt what you’ve got. And sometimes, famous people get caught up in documenting their scandalous sides as well.

Thanks to politicians like Anthony Weiner (do I even have to try and make a pun here?) and everyone’s favorite golden gossip girl, Blake Lively, nude photos are all over the scene again.

Of course, we here at MO don’t condone this type of thing — especially if you’re sending naked photos to other girls while your wife is pregnant. But hey, if you’re going to eschew all morale and your personal dignity, you might as well have a soundtrack.

Destiny’s Child — “Nasty Girl”

This song is the warning signal to the nude photo newbie. Say you’ve been thinking about sending over some naughty photos to your boo piece; this is an anthem to girls everywhere to maybe think twice about what you’re about to do. When half the lyrics to a song consist of “put some clothes on!” the message might sink in — and with a little luck, maybe you won’t need the rest of this playlist after all.

Ludacris — “Sexting”

Oh, sexting — this generation’s version of the hand-written love letter. No song is more appropriate than the silly and sexy song “Sexting” by Ludacris. Although it’s a poke at the drama that ensued after Tiger Woods and his countless mistresses were outed, it’s a timeless ode to the tacky text message.

Mickey Avalon — “My Dick”

This song is for you, Weiner. Hey, if you’re going to send pictures of your appendage all over Twitter, you might as well be comfortable with a song that sings the praises of it.

Arctic Monkeys — “Temptation Greets You Like Your Naughty Friend” ft. Dizzee Rascal

It’s about time this playlist got a little bit of rock’n’roll. Brit rockers Arctic Monkeys can rev up any situation with their fast and dangerously riff-heavy numbers, and this song is no exception. Although the song is more about cheating, the lyrics are still applicable to any situation involving sexting or taking nude photos of yourself — temptation is always ready to greet you.

Edith Piaf — “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien”

So maybe you just sent that naughty text or photo and you’re starting to second-guess yourself. Now there’s a dirty photo of yourself out in cyberspace and really, it’s completely out of your hands. Who knows where it’ll end up?

But hey, at the end of the day, you’ve got to own up to the choices you’ve made (ahem, Blake Lively — in denial much?). So take a note from the words of the late French chanteuse Edith Piaf — regret nothing, the good or the bad.
