Keds, American classic shoe brand, continues to make everyday wear effortless and cool by taking preppy staples and giving them a vintage spin for its Spring 2012 clothing line for Opening Ceremony.
The self-proclaimed “feel-like-everyday’s-a-Saturday” shoe brand—in true American sportswear fashion—created a versatile line with pieces that can easily complement most items found in your closest.
The vintage and playful take on the preppy essentials—such as cuffed shorts—take a high-waisted stance, and cuffed peg pants and pleated trousers are also found within the collection.
There are crew neck and color block knits, and the even more relaxed old school baseball-styled, short sleeved t-shirts with the “Keds” logo make an appearance in the collection.
Other pieces seem to play with the idea of childhood, as some blouses and dresses feature a Peter Pan collar finish. A plaid and patch floral dress is a more put together version of that mix-match patchwork dress reminiscent of a Raggedy Ann doll.
To top off the essentials, the relaxed styled blazers and coats provide the perfect finish that pulls all the easily mix-and-matchable pieces together.
Keds for Opening Ceremony is the apparel version of what the brand has done with its Champion shoe: creating simple, sporty pieces that will blend seamlessly with most casual separates.
The collection clearly defines what American fashion is about: providing easy wear without comprising individuality.
The Spring 2012 Keds for Opening Ceremony collection, with individual pieces retailing from $70 to $300, is currently on sale at Opening Ceremony stores worldwide.
