Sneak Peek: Jason Wu for Target

Off of the heels of the Missoni for Target frenzy, it was announced that Jason Wu—a favorite of First Lady Michelle Obama—would be the next fashion designer to design a collection exclusively for the retailer.

Past Target collaboration collections have included Missoni, Jean Paul Gaultier and McQ, all of which have sold out within days of the launch.

This time around Wu is using designs completely separate from his own collections. “My goal was not to duplicate anything from my main collection,” Wu says to The New York Times, “Instead I designed completely new clothes and accessories that reflect my taste and have a voice of their own.”

Wu refers to his collection  as “gamine chic,” and the first images of his collaboration with the mass retailer were released earlier this week revealing a cotton striped A-line dress and canvas satchel. From what we have seen so far, the collection is–in true Wu form—feminine and ladylike.

Jason Wu for Target, which will range in price from $19.99 to $59.99 for apparel and $19.99 to $49.99 for handbags and scarves, debuts in Target stores and on February 5th.
