PREVIEW: Opening Ceremony Pre-Fall 2012

Each year, Opening Ceremony pays homage to a designated country, and for this year’s collections, it’s Argentina.

Opening Ceremony’s pre-fall 2012 collection—an enthusiastic nod to Argentina, circa the mid 60s—is dominated by the baby doll mini-dress in classic A-line silhouettes. The mod-like 60s inspired dresses are made modern with the creative use of sheer and striped fabrics, braid work, and zipper detailing.  For example, a zipper runs vertically down one lovely emerald green mini-dress.

Touches of Argentine inspiration can be seen throughout the collection in the crochet skirts, braid work found on the collars and belts, and fabrics in stripes and patterns that evoke the spirit of the country.

While most of the dresses shy away from the bodycon look, there is one black curve-hugging dress that is sure to be a hit with the party crowd.

Besides the dresses in the collection, there several contrast placket cardigans, slim fit pants and moto jackets.
