This Is My Hat, Bitch: The Man Repeller and Her Handmade Hat

[spacer size="10"]Since the debut of her “Man Repeller” blog, Leandra Medine has become a fashion hero of sorts to many women.

Now considered part of the fashion elite, she gets to do a lot of fun  activities, such as making cool videos with Chris Benz and Shopbop, collaborating with jewelry line Dannijo and sitting front row at New York Fashion Week.

Recently, Medine and milliner Gigi Burris set out to make a hat that the savvy blogger could wear to Fashion Week. At the Abrizio Hat Factory in the Garment District, Medine was able to watch her hat being made by hand, which is a rarity in today’s fast-fashion world.

For her hat, Medine chose a wide, floppy brim with a fedora crown. The material of choice was blue velour felt paired with a green alligator band. The crowning glory of hat  is a grosgrain ribbon that reads “This is my hat, bitch.”

The hat is available on Burris’ website from now until January for $360. You can choose a leather or alligator band to top it off.  Ready, set, repel.
