Barneys New York And The Walt Disney Company Announce Holiday 2012 Campaign: Electric Holiday.

Let’s face it,  in the real world, Disney characters like Daisy Duck, Minnie Mouse and Goofy would never make it as real models. Critics would say that Minnie was too short and too damn cute (industry’s term for “too commercial”), Daisy would be too mouthy, and Goofy would be, well, just too goofy.

Fast forward to Barney’s new reveal of the Disney characters, who all get high-fashion makeovers styled in Balenciaga, Balmain, Dolce & Gabbana, Lanvin, Nina Ricci, Proenza Schouler and Rick Owens.

The makeover is part of Barneys New York and Disney’s 2012 “Electric Holiday Campaign,” a collaboration between the two brands, which will feature  an  exclusive three-dimensional electric light show as well as a moving art short film at the Madison Avenue flagship’s windows.

In the film, Minnie and Mickey are transported into a fantasy world where they are transformed from their traditional Disney form into dream-like fashion-forward runway models, and are joined by Goofy, Daisy Duck, Snow White, Princess Tiana, and Cruella de Vil.

In the spirit of the holiday season, Barneys New York will donate 25% of sales from all Electric Holiday products to a charity in honor of their special collaboration. The Electric Holiday program and the Madison Avenue flagship’s windows will be unveiled on November 14th.
