Now Trending: From Sea to Shining MetallicsJamie King in Peter Pilotto, Nina Dobrev in Elie Saab, Rihanna in Stella McCartney

Whether you lean towards the intense temperament of the ocean, like waves crashing on a rocky shore, or the calm serenity of the dreamy blue waters of the Caribbean, this summer is all about aquatic blues and sparkly, iridescent metallics inspired by the sea.

From Giorgio Armani’s Spring/Summer 2012 abstract collection of oceanic blues, to Peter Pilotto’s vibrant fish scale prints,  it’ evident that aquatic-inspired looks dominated this season’s runways.

From the runways to red carpet, models and actresses alike were spotted wearing the aquatic trend. Jamie King was seen at the opening of the Persol Magnificent Obsessions exhibition at the Museum of the Moving Image wearing a printed Peter Pilotto dress. Last month, actress Nina Dobrev was seen wearing a sparkling Elie Saab gown that radiated hues of the deep, dreamy dark sea, and songstress Rihanna wore a Stella McCartney jacket with printed tidal wave-like swirls.

We’re all aboard and setting sail with this sea-sonal trend.
