Crazy For Paisley

From left to right: Jil Sander S/S 12, Emilio Pucci S/S 12, Stella McCartney S/S 12

You may consider the paisley print to have an aristocratic, British and slightly eccentric connotation, but for spring and summer, you can now add the phrases ‘on trend’ and ‘reinvented’ to that list.

The Indian heritage print of swirling and curling shapes finds new style with an infinite capacity to create many versatile, interesting looks with its signature exotic, rich floral patterns.

To work a perfect paisley look, pick a clean and graphic, paisley-printed cotton day dress – as seen at Jil Sander – or wear yours emblazoned on traditional pyjama pieces, like the ones worn on Stella McCartney and JW Anderson runways.

Another option that we love is wearing the print splashed across a bohemian, billowing skirt, like at Emilio Pucci, or go all out modern taking a cue from Etro, where paisley prints were emblazoned and enlarged on pieces.

For these three looks below, we chose a silky pyjama-style, relaxed blazer by Balmain, a boho jumpsuit by Thakoon, as well as a more modern shaped dress by Etro.

Team these striking garments with modern, chunky jewelry and with ultra bold accessories to add edge to the versatile design motif.
