In Plain Black and White – Sharp Graphic Monochrome Takes Center Stage

Do you, like us, think grey is just too blah?

If so, you should probably try this fall’s contrasting black-and-white color palette, which has been splashed all over everything from jewelry and accessories to tailored trousers and chic dresses.

A mix of cheeky monochrome prints and simple, sophisticated black and white accents were spotted on the fall/winter runways of Helmut Lang, 3.1 Philip Lim, Rachel Zoe, Suno and Diane von Furstenberg.

Retro references were in abundance with designers showcasing looks associated with influences from 20s/30s cinema to the striking 1960s Biba/ Mary Quant period.

Luxe up the graphic pairing with glints of gold, pearls or a pop of color. The trend is so striking that it only needs a few simple accessories to complete the look to perfection.

Get inspired by taking a peek at our top picks from the trend. There’s not a shade of grey in sight.
