Texture Overload

From nubby wools to buttery leather to baroque embellishments, the dazzling assortment of textures that hit the Fall/Winter runways marked the onset of one of our favorite trends this season.

Gareth Pugh incorporated stunning textured leather looks into his designs, Anna Sui amped up her collection with sparkling embellishments and sequins, and Custo Barcelona piled on mix and match textured knits and piecework. Winter dressing can be tricky, but  you can easily avoid ruts by adding textured pieces into your wardrobe.  We had a hard time deciding which textured look we loved the most, so we incorporated several on-trend pieces into one outfit. We’ll show you how easy it is to layer different textures for a fun take on winter dressing.

We can’t get enough of Isabel Marant’s textured leather skirt. The caramel hue is perfect for the season and it can be paired with a blouse for the office or with a cozy sweater and ankle boots for a more relaxed look.  The possibilities are endless!

We’ve paired it with a Maison Martin Margiela chunky wool knit sweater.  The texture and boxy silhouette pairs nicely with the skirt and will look just as good with skinny jeans.   Steve Madden’s Barakuda heels add a bit more texture thanks to pony hair and Alexander Wang’s ostrich Eyeglass Case Clutch adds a pop of color to the outfit.  Dannijo’s Tyler earrings polish off this outfit with flair.
