As much as I love the exquisite outfits, intoxicating music and infectious excitement of the Fashion Week runways, I also love the commotion and chaos behind the scenes. Especially when it comes to beauty prep.
This season, OPI nailed it with some spot-on shades that beautifully, yet delicately, complemented the gorgeous garments on parade.
At BCBG Max Azria’s Fall RTW show, inky Black Onyx (topped with a touch of Matte Nail Envy for a subtle sheen), accentuated the label’s gritty, yet laid-back, urban style. Think casual tees and silk tunics layered under boxy jackets, textured coats and long fur vests.
According to Style.com, Jenni Kayne dedicated her Fall RTW show to her two favorite decades for fashion: the seventies and the nineties. OPI picked the perfect polish to complement both style eras: Monsooner or Later. The vibrant coral color is one of my personal faves, and the red-orange hue worked perfectly alongside Kayne’s leopard-print patterns, slim-cut (but also slouchy) suits and shiny silver skirts.
An honorable mention (in my own humble opinion, of course), goes to the clean, nude nails OPI created for Candela’s RTW show using Don’t Pretzel My Buttons. Tiered lace skirts, fringe-sleeved sweaters, and cool, rustic outerwear were all elegantly complemented by the creamy, barely-there shade.
Behind-the-scenes beauty is my absolute favorite thing about Fashion Week. And now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m suddenly inspired to hit a luxe mani/pedi spot for a little personal pampering.
