Scottish designer Christopher Kane can do no wrong. From neon lace in his Spring 2011 collection to his aqua gel clutches in the Fall of 2012, Kane has become somewhat of a legend in the fashion realm.
His Pre-Fall 2013 grouping of rich cobalt blues and purple jewel tones are yet another stunning display of his creativity.
Floral and animal prints — which add texture and depth to the collection — are intermingled within darker and richer colors. Kane softens some of his more heavier looks by his use of sheer fabric in many of the tops of the dresses. Double-breasted velvet tailored jackets and a velvet blue bomber add a luxe richness to the collection.
Kane says the line was partially inspired by Hammer horror films (think Bela Lugosi, the Bride of Dracula and the Mummy) which may account for the spectral, yet nostalgic tone of the collection.
