Oh Those Summer Nights: How to Get That Perfect Shimmery Summer Evening Glow

Beauty / August 22, 2014

It seems that as quickly as it arrived, summer is now swiftly coming to a close. But it’s not over yet, nor are the wonderfully romantic and (this year’s) delightfully mild August evenings. Right now, the weather is perfect for outdoor dinners, beach parties, rooftop gatherings—those cool, dimly lit occasions that shed special light on your face and body. Make the most of it by adding these six gold-toned beauty products to your look. They’ll enhance your natural beauty while you enjoy the last sultry evenings of the season.

Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact, $25

Bronzed Face and Décolletage
Especially key for the fair-skinned, this bronzer compact contains three sheer shades, the middle of which is filled with shiny flecks of gold. Swirl all of the shades together with a large bronzer brush, tap off excess, and apply to your forehead, cheekbones, nose and chin. And don’t forget your décolletage! Lightly dust some powder there, as well—especially if you’re showing off a suggestive plunging neckline.

Tarte Golden Days & Sultry Nights Amazonian Clay Collector's Shadow Palette,

Golden Eye
Adding a touch of gold shadow to your lids makes for lovely evening look, and Tarte’s palette contains everything you need to do so. After applying primer (we love Urban Decay’s Primer Potion), start with “Toes in the Sand” (the matte ivory shade), using it as a base by applying it within the crease of your lid and outer corner. Next, use “Caipirinha Cocktails” (the shimmery gold shadow) and dust directly onto your lid, as well as into the inner corners of your eye. Apply a touch of the matte taupe “Espadrilles” to your brow bone and blend it into the base shadow to soften the shape. Finish with a soft brown liner and brown or black mascara.

Cool Coral Lip
Infused with flecks of pale gold, this lip tint by one of our favorites, Becca, is the perfect product for a summer evening pout. All of the Shimmer Soufflés contain a hint of powder, color stain, highlighter and cream, and the four elements work together to create a subtle, buildable and sexy lip shade. Guava/Moonstone is our favorite because of its pretty coral color, which is a summer evening staple.

Nuxe Multi Usage Dry Oil Golden Shimmer

Sexy Shimmering Skin
If you live in a place where the climate will soon turn cool, you’ve got just a little  time left to show some skin. Make sure it’s smooth, soft and shimmery by using this multi-purpose oil, which contains six precious oils, as well as vitamin E. This product is perfect for legs—it gives them such a sexy look—as well as arms and shoulders. It can also be used in your hair and on your face. But go easy—a little goes a long way, and we think that this golden potion works best for the body.

DryBar Gold Mine Shimmering Leave In Conditioner, $29

Luscious Gold Locks
If you’re looking to give your hair a shimmer effect, than this leave-in conditioner from Drybar is exactly what you need. This stuff softens, detangles, evens out texture and adds a pretty (but natural looking) golden shine to your strands. It also smells amazing—if you are a Drybar addict like me, you know that smell, and I’m guessing you love it too. Gold Mine is also good for you—it protects your hair from environmental damage, moisturizes like mad and helps to restore elasticity to damaged locks.

Essie Nail Polish In Good As Gold

High Shine Nails
Don’t forget your hands! Nail your nighttime look with this gorgeous, golden lacquer. The metallic shimmer will sparkle in the moonlight, making your evening style shine. Or, you can add light dots on nude polish and create little gold nail art.
