At Monday night’s Emmy Awards, the red carpet was quite different compared to Sunday’s Video Music Awards. Instead of a sea of black, short, body-hugging leather dresses, the ladies of television set the red carpet on fire, decked out in 50 shades of red. Strutting their stuff in full skirts and chic column dresses, these ladies turned the red carpet into their runway, demanding attention from all.
This “Masters of Sex” star has been delivering knockout after knockout on the red carpet lately. A far cry from her “Mean Girls” days, Lizzy Caplan stunned in a black and white Donna Karen Atelier gown. With a cutout back, an open black and a full skirt with white train, this dress was in a league of its own on the red carpet Monday night.
As one of the new judges for NBC’s hit show “The Voice,” Gwen Stefani was asked to present at the Emmys this year. She channeled Donatella herself as she walked the red carpet in a Versace top and skirt set, made of thousands upon thousands of tiny Swarovski crystals. With strong ancient Egyptian influence, Gwen mastered the easy look with pin straight hair and simple yet dramatic make-up.
The “Orange is the New Black” star might have gone home empty handed, but this girl has proved she fits right in on the red carpet. Taylor Schilling wore a cream halter Zuhair Murad dress Monday night. The cut and draped back flattered her perfectly, and the small train was subtle yet extremely elegant for this repeat nominee. And we all agree, she looks much better in this color as opposed to orange.
Claire Danes is never a surprise on any Best Dressed list. The star of “Homeland” has had success in both television and film — and red carpets come with the job. Delivering yet another killer look, the actress wore red (the color of the night) Givenchy. The dress from a distance is not that spectacular, but the details are simply sensational. From the beaded neckline to the cut-outs and open pack to the studded belt, this red tulle gown was completely covered in a red lace. Quite simple this dress is a work of art. A soft bun and red lips completed the look, but the real star of the night was clearly her dress.
Keeping it extremely young and fresh, Sarah Hyland looked flawless on the red carpet. Sporting the latest summer trend, the “Modern Family” star wore a white crop top with a full orange skirt. Styled with perfect makeup and a sock bun, Miss Hyland fit right in with all the A-list celebrities. But with another win for “Modern Family,” this girl is on her way to being a regular on the red carpet and best dressed lists.
We would be more surprised if these two didn’t look perfect on the red carpet. Although Matthew went home empty-handed for his role in “True Detective,” his look was a winner. Never a fan of a simple tux, the navy blue Dolce & Gabanna complemented Camila’s cream Zuhair Murad gown perfectly. Hopefully, he is nominated again this year during award season just so we can see the two of them on the red carpet more. This couple is more than alright, alright, alright.
