There are times when fashion comes together with ethics in an effort to bring about change in the world. Yuwei Lee is doing just that with her new Opportunity Collection under her jewelry brand, Yuwei Designs.

Partnering with the United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women, the West-coast based jewelry designer created eight limited-edition pieces which include 18k gold-plated earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and rings, all of which are designed to “tell a story of strength, power, and dignity.”

Speaking about her own personal experience with domestic violence and her inspiration behind the collection, Lee explains, “I am no stranger to domestic violence, so I hope to allow this collaboration to guide my healing process. I am so incredibly connected with this vital work and I am honored to help support it in this way.”

Having symbolic meaning and representing her own life experience, the colors and shapes of Lee’s jewelry within the exclusive collection are brought forth out of her own journey. For example, all of Lee’s works are in the shape of a teardrop–a symbol which represents the tears of women injured by domestic violence.

100 percent of the net proceeds from Yuwei Designs’ Opportunity Collection will be donated to the UN Trust fund for domestic violence victims,  a grant program devoted to preventing violence against women and girls through services and advocacy.

The jewelry is not only serving a great cause, but also beautifully and intricately crafted.  Yuwei Lee is all about the empowerment of women and her handcrafted jewelry is helping to make the world a better place.
