American Apparel XL Contest Contestant

Last month, American Apparel launched an awkward competition search for a plus-size model. Called The Next Big Thing, the competition asked women to submit photos of themselves that showed off their "curvaceous bods."

You see, American Apparel had the brilliant idea that there were "big women out there" who clearly needed clothes; and being the forward thinking brand that they were, they decided to hold a voting contest for plus-sized models. One lucky winner would be selected to receive a solo photo shoot and "several brand new XL styles."

Unsurprisingly, this competition did not go down well with women--most notably, one woman named Nancy Upton, who kindly sent in her own FU regards to the company.

Upton submitted a series of photos of herself posing in a pool with a whole chicken shoved down her throat, positioned on a platter with an apple in her mouth, and holding a cherry pie that covers her you-know-what.

You go girl with yo' bad self!

Anne Hathaway Models for Tod's Fall 2011 Ad Campaign

Anne Hathaway looks dreamy in Tod's new signature collection ads for Fall 2011, taken by famed photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

Aside from her deal with Lancome, this is the 28-year old actress’s first contract with a major fashion label.

In the ad, Hathaway is sprawled out on a red car, sporting glossy red lips and showing off her sexy self while holding a luxurious Tod's purse and clutch.

Hathaway has been preparing for her upcoming role as Catwoman in the new Dark Knight Rises flick; and judging by the dangerous cat eyes she is donning in these photos, we don’t see any reasons why she won’t be the perfect Catwoman.

Vintage Vogue Covers by Salvador Dali

[galleryview id=33]

Indulge yourself in these retro Vogue covers painted by the surrealist mastermind Salvador Dali.

Between the 1930s and the 1970s, the quirky artist painted a series of Vogue covers that look like they should be framed and displayed in an art museum. The entire set takes you out of space and time, and into an entirely different dimension.

One 1939 Dali cover shows two women with bouquets of flowers and branches for heads, lounging in formal attire in a desert.

A personal favorite is the 1944 painting which uses various elements such as flowers, tree roots, and bricks to form the letters that spell out the word "Vogue".

Perhaps Vogue should revert back to having revered modern day artists design their covers. What do you think?
